Burned methanol washed over Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s “Bullring” oval track as the 2024 Bitnile Open Wheel Showdown blew into town, November 14 – 16. And methanol wasn’t the only atmospheric change. Not even the jets from nearby Nellis Air Force Base ripped the air like dozens of Modified, Supermodified, and Winged Sprint cars at full throttle. 

Competitors came from as far as New York, Florida, and British Columbia to vie for large purses. And plenty of Utah racers showed.

The Battle of the Borders Desert Grand Prix has become well known among Utah and Nevada motorcycle desert racers because of the unique challenges manufactured by the host organization: the Southern Nevada Jackrabbits Motorcycle Club of Las Vegas. On top of the grueling natural and manmade obstacles, severe winds added another level of pain to the 2024 version.

The Hard Enduro Rhythm Knockout, taking place near Cedar City, Utah and hosted by the Southern Nevada Jackrabbits Motorcycle Club of Las Vegas, was already challenging last year. The 2024 version was twice as long and added several fiendish new obstacles. It also became an official event for the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games.

Over September 5th – 8th, the Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) hosted the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) National Championship races. That was a huge treat for local drivers and fans after an 11 year break. With the championships at home this year, lots of Utah drivers competed. Many did well against teams from all over the country.
